I have just found the perfect soundtrack for this year's NaNovel.

And it is epic.

I stumbled across The Clockwork Dolls while browsing last.fm, and immediately went and bought their first album, Dramatis Personae. Their steampunk-y aesthetic, combined with the epic nature of their orchestrations, makes them the perfect soundtrack for the tentatively-titled Pediophobia (which mean "fear of dolls" and would be perfect if it weren't for some unfortunate connotations).

I am now so excited for November.

Here's A Thought...

How would people feel about having a series of prompts for short stories/long stories/novellas/whatever?

For instance, I (or whoever) would post a picture or a phrase or a link to a song, and whoever wants to can write something to go with it...any length, any genre, any rating, all that. And, when the stories/whatever are complete, whoever finishes first posts the next prompt...

Or we can do it another way, if you'd rather. Or not, if you rather that too.

Just a thought...

Oooo...and the prompts can be used for pre-existing stories too, if you have a WIP and are stuck on a scene. I won't limit your creativity ;)

It's a great example of that whole "show, don't tell" rule. I suppose, in its way, it's a short story. It's also bloody awesome music.

If Sigur Rós isn't on your playlists, they really should be - especially if you have a soft spot for whimsy. Their music is...transcendental. If ever there is a movie made of one of my stories (especially The Story That Rainbow Brite Spawned), I want them to do the soundtrack.

I also want part of it to be filmed in Iceland, because...really. Gorgeous.
