A Title...?

I'm thinking of calling my NaNoWriMo story "The Hollow Of White Hazel"

I'm not sure it fits, significance wise, but for some reason, my head's going 'Nope, that's it. No more ideas for you'.

What say you?

Generally, I like it.

I like it as well, though it doesn't make me immediately think of Arthurian legend. However, I will not pester you to change it unless I can come up with a better title.

Bean: Yay! That's good, because I can't think of anything else...

E: You make a very good point. It doesn't scream 'Arthurian Legend' much at all, though it does have a good rhythm to it. And I'm glad you like it, too, because as I told Bean, I can't think of anything else. I might when I actually write the story, but...for now, this is all I can come up with.

It does sorta tie in, though, in a backwards way. I should probably explain a little.

I pulled the phrase from a Yeasayer song (Red Cave - it's amazing), from the verse "Mary's House in the hollow of the white hazel, rapid whirlpool and the church of the red cave", which is (almost)the English translation of the town of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, Wales.

I was hoping, though I haven't exactly thought out how, that the characters would all end up there for the final battle/confrontation/thing. Mostly because I thought it'd be amusing to have Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch in a story, but also because it's on the Isle of Anglesy, which used to be of great significance to the Druids - least ways, right up until the Romans killed them all. And, because the vast majority of the Arthurian legends came out of Wales (pre-Christian Arthur, not Medieval Arthur), I figured that'd be a nice tie in.

Plus, in Celtic mythology, trees were often used to lend significance to points of a story. Heroes will have staves or spears or bows or some such made of specific woods that correspond to the 20 trees in the Druid divinatory alphabet thingy, or rest under specific trees during their quests which were meant to be significant because of the layers of meaning...

The downside to all of this is that I can't find the book I was reading that explained the significance of hazel trees, and all I can remember off the top of my head is that there's something to do with wisdom involved. I'd google it, but the last time I did that I ended up with a hell of a lot of fluff-bunny nonsense and not a lot of actual data or explanations.

Bah. My long-assed, mostly-incoherent ramblings aside, if you do come up with something better, I'd be glad to hear it >:D
