The only one I've ever made was for a kid's horror/adventure novel that I wrote from the summer of 2007 to... I think February of '08. This is it:

Zombie - The Cranberries
When You're Gone - The Cranberries
Duel - Bond
Hymn - Bond
Inside of You - Hoobastank
Do You Sleep - Lisa Loeb
Don't Cry Out - Shiny Toy Guns
The Flag - Barenaked Ladies
Wrap Your Arms Around Me - Barenaked Ladies
The Passenger - Michael Hutchence
There is a Light - Nick Cave
Every Me and Every You - Placebo
The Hunter Gets Captured by the Game - Massive Attack
Colorblind - Counting Crows
Release - The Tea Party
I'll See it Through - Texas

So far, for Aigaion Girl, I have Barry McGuire's Eve of Destruction, Don't Stop Believing by Journey and Coldplay's The Scientist - plus the songs that are actually mentioned in the story, like Dreamweaver and Total Eclipse of the Heart.

I have a song to donate to the A/G playlist: It's The End of the World As We Know It, either the R.E.M. original or the Great Big Sea cover.

I also have a playlist for the story I'm working on right now, I Do Believe in Fairies:

Acoustic No. 3 - the Goo Goo Dolls
Angels on the Moon - Thriving Ivory
As The World Falls Down - David Bowie (why yes, I am a geek)
Can't Take It In - Imogen Heap
Clocks - Coldplay
Club Thing - Yoav
Dead On Arrival - Fall Out Boy
Fairy Dance - James Newton Howard
Flying - ditto
He's A Pirate - Klaus Badelt
Home At Last - Trevor Jones
I Do Believe in Fairies - James Newton Howard
I'm Still Here - Johnny Rzeznik
Kiss Me - Lauren Barrett
Old School - Hedley
Only the Beginning of the Adventure - Harry Gregson-Williams
Peter Returns - James Newton Howard
The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything - Relient K
Please Don't Die - James Newton Howard
Related Theme Song - The Veronicas
Santiago - Loreena McKennitt
Shooting Star - Andy Brown & Ilan Eshkeri
Stolen - Dashboard Confessional
Stolen Child - Loreena McKennitt
The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny - Lemon Demon
Underground - David Bowie
What If - Emilie Autumn
When I Grow Up - Garbage
Where the Sun Breaks Through the Mist - Michael Sweeney
Wild Child - Enya
You Don't See Me - Josie and the Pussycats

It can rightly be said that I have very mainstream musical tastes.

As The World Falls Down is *not* geeky! Actually, I have it on a partially-formed playlist for a silly vampire story I'm working on. If you want geeky, the story is called "Valentine Evenings"

I think I will add It's The End of the World as We Know It to my list.

Ooh, I want to read it now! Silly vampire fluff is always good.

And I didn't say the *song* was geeky. I'm just more the geek for trying to make songs from Labyrinth fit every story I write.
(Although in this case, the story itself is rife with Laby refs, and so it kind of makes sense.)

I meant the use of it in a playlist was not geeky. Or, if it is geeky, it's geeky in a really cool way, because all things Labyrinth are cool.

Unfortunately, I don't have most of that story anymore (it was on my laptop that got stolen), so it'll be a while before there's anything to read, but it promises to be ridiculous and fluffy.

Laptop theft is not very nice. Especially when the theft-ee (that is not a word) in question is a writer.
Jerk.
Hooray for fluff!

As The World Falls Down has to be one of the best songs ever. It usually finds its way onto at least one of my story playlists no matter what I´m writing.

The playlist for the story I´ve been writing since I was five (I really should retitle that The Story That Rainbow Brite Spawned) is, for the most part, the entirety of Mike Oldfield´s Tubular Bells III, with not a lot else thrown in, and what else there is, is...more Mike Oldfield. Especially the song Flowers of the Forest.

Whatever else I´m writing can usually make do with random selections from my entire music collection...which almost always includes (for starters) Mezzanine by Massive Attack (the whole album), The Scientist by Coldplay, nearly everything by Keane, and - now - Crystal Castles.

And, for some odd reason, AC/DC.

What can I say? I like my techno-triphop-piano!rock-headbanger stuff >:)

Sounds like fun.
I like my techno-triphop-piano!rock-headbanger stuff too. It's way more fun than sticking with just one boring genre.

"Story that Rainbow Brite spawned", hmm? I desire to know more.

Itś got Travelers to another Land, unicorns, flying unicorns, giant-assed lions with wings, mythical creatures galore, princes, princesses, a Queen, a castle the size of a city, and an epic battle against Creatures of the Nightmare...itś evolved a lot since I was five, but - essentially - itś the Story that Rainbow Brite Spawned.

The Rainbow Brite part comes in when they get there, and have to travel on a rainbow...

I should warn you now...I had a pink room with rainbows on the walls and about eight unicorn figurines as a child. Itś rather coloured my thinking >:)

Sounds epic.
It's okay. My room had polka-dots. Now it's pink.
And my writing features angst rather heavily. Hmm.

I grew up in a pink room with kitten wallpaper. Most of my stories contain one of: death, vampires, taboo relationships, zombies, violence, murder, improbable romance and the colour pink. Hehe, kind of makes you wonder what would have happened if my parents had let me paint my room black, like I wanted :)

Also, I decided to take E's advice and make a playlist for Aigaion Girl. Once I had about 50 songs in my winamp window, I went to save the list, and it popped up with Save as: Aigaion Girl. Apparently, at some point I made a playlist for that story. It's over 80 songs long, and most of the ones that I'd put in the new list were already there. It's really odd because I can't for the life of me remember making it.

I won't list all of them here, but I'll throw a couple out there.

XTC - Dear God
Helicopter Girl - Satan's Seventh Bride
Counting Crows - Colourblind
Lady Gaga - Again, Again
Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill
Keane - A Bad Dream
Weezer - No One Else
Survivor - Eye of the Tiger
Four Star Mary - Pain
Face to Face - The Devil You Know

I love weird coincidences like that.
